Umananda temple

You can take a look at engraving of Hindu deities such as Devi, Ganesha, Surya and Shiva on the temple walls. And the most interesting part of the temple is, Lord Vishnu sculpture with ten incarnations can be seen here. The area where Umananda temple is constructed is called as Bhasmachala. As per the legend it is believed that, Lord Shiva was once meditating on hillock, where he was interrupted by Kamadeva. Because of this interruption, Kamadeva was burnt into ashes because of Lord Shiva’s anger.

Kamakhaya temple

This temple is located at a distance of 7km from Guwahati. It is one of the most important pilgrimage centers for Hindu worshippers. This is the place where practices and beliefs of Aryan communities coincide with the non- Aryan communities. There are plenty of legends and myths associated with this temple. Amongst those, the most popular one is, the reproductive body part of Sati settled at this late, later it became responsible for her death. Some of the popular puja’s that are performed in this temple are Pohan Biya, Vasanti Puja and Manasa Puja.
